The Constructive Dialogue Institute Guidebook

The Constructive Dialogue Institute is a nonprofit dedicated to cross-dialogue discussions that decrease political polarization. The recently published guidebook, Maintaining Campus Community During the 2024 Election: A Guide for Leaders, Faculty, and Staff, is designed to help campus leaders prepare for the 2024 election. The guidebook authors interviewed experienced campus leaders and covered the types of conflicts that are likely, potential policies to consider, relationships and skills to build, crises that may emerge and possible responses, and post-election program development to support campus communities. The guidebook is more applied than theoretical and, like the ACE report included in this issue, should be a useful resource for campus leaders.

The Institute for Democracy and Higher Education (IDHE) at AAC&U has recently partnered with Sustained Dialogue Institute to create a campus conflict and conversation help desk. The help desk is described as a place to seek timely advice and troubleshooting meant to help campus educators and practitioners facing difficult conflicts and challenging conversations. The inquiries, which are submitted via an online form, are confidential and there is a team of scholars and practitioners ready to help.
