This webinar focused on practical steps higher education institutions can take with and for undocumented students to protect their data, rights, and safety. For example, FERPA prevents sharing of academic records without student consent with outside parties including local law enforcement. They also suggest campuses review who has access to student data, what data is collected and what purpose it serves, and consider additional data safeguards. They also suggest creating clear review protocols for law enforcement requests to access campus and that campuses review which spaces are considered public versus private.
