This study uses a representative sample of STEM scientists to “explore how recent visa and immigration policies have shaped research collaborations, work with students and postdoctoral scholars, and intention to leave.” Extensive data analysis demonstrates how visa and immigration policy changes can deter international students and faculty, disrupt collaborations, and generally hurt institutions’ abilities to attract the best and brightest. In short, anti-immigration policies hurt STEM recruitment of both students and faculty.
